I get asked…

What is Yoga? And I’m not flexible, can I do it?

Literally, the word “yoga” means: to unite. Today in here in the west, “yoga” typically describes a physical practice exercising consciousness, intention, breath, and a balance of strength and flexibility that ultimately returns the practitioner to a natural, blissful state. And you do not need to be flexible to begin a yoga practice. In fact increased flexibility is one of the benefits a regular yoga practice specifically one that can be tailored to you by a yoga therapist.

What is the difference between a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist?

Yoga therapist have undergone several more hours in training with more in depth study of the physical body and well as our our more subtle, energy and breath and emotional bodies in order to help clients maximize their practice.

Absolutely. We can meet anywhere via video-conference or phone. We can even host virtual workshops and small group yoga classes on the web! Requirements: a webcam or computer with a built-in camera, a reliable, speedy connection and a meeting application: Zoom, WebEx, FaceTime.

Is yoga considered a religious practice?

Yoga recommends ethics and life values as a pathway to bringing calm and steadiness to the mind and well-being to the body. The philosophy of yoga is an extension of its psychology and practices. Yoga does not consider any particular religious belief as a requirement for the practice, and one does not need to forgo any faith to benefit from yoga. The only requirement is to uphold the values of ethics and inner peacefulness. Yoga is adaptable and is considered a spiritual discipline that supports any and all faiths; the Christian faith or the Buddhist faith or the Hindu faith.
